Fanwood Contactless Easter Drive-by

The Fanwood Recreation Commission came up with a unique way to have an Easter celebration as a drive-by event on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at the historic Fanwood train station.

Families could drive up, enjoy a greeting by the Easter bunny, then have treats delivered right through an open car window through an ingenious chute built by Recreation Commissioner Bruce Zakarin.

Treats included chocolate bunnies and plastic eggs filled with candy, packed by Recreation Commission volunteers. The treats were passed up to Bruce who stood on a ladder to facilitate dropping the goodies down the chute and into cars that lined up. As one satisfied youngster remarked, “This is really cool.”

Councilwomen Francine Glaser and Tricia Walsh assisted. Thanks to Recreation Director Bob Budiansky and Recreation Commissioners Ken Ashe, Ivan Solomahhin, Scott Sinclair, Neil Pierce, Bruce Zakarin, Ruth Esehak-Gillespie and Mike Kelly.
