Annual Blessing of the Animals – Oct 1
The Episocopal Church of St. John the Baptist will hold its annual Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. The event will take place on the church lawn at 2018 Dewitt Terrace in Linden and is open to all members of the community.
The Blessing of the Animals is a yearly tradition to honor St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment, whose feast is celebrated on October 4th and to show our appreciation for all of the animals in our lives.
All animals are welcome to participate in the Blessing of the Animals, including dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and even farm animals. There will be a brief service at 1:00p.m led by Canon Joanne Izzo, followed by a time for people to bring their animals forward to be blessed. Participants should bring a folding lawn or beach chair.
The Blessing of the Animals is a fun and family-friendly event. It is a great way to show your love for animals and to celebrate the special bond that we share with them.
We hope to see you and your furry friends at the Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, October 1.Donations will be accepted for a local animal shelter.
