Elizabeth Rotary Sets 13th Annual “Taste of Elizabeth”

The Rotary Club of Elizabeth, celebrating its 102nd year of service to the Greater Elizabeth Community, is proud to feature its unique annual food-tasting event, the “Taste of Elizabeth” on Monday, October 28th from 5PM to 8:30PM at the Renaissance Hotel, 1000 Spring Street, Elizabeth.
 
“We are bringing back our most popular vendors and adding new ones all the time,” according to Rotarian Ken Richuso.  Making their debuts this year are:
Cubachon, Elizabeth; Dozen Roses Wines, Bergenfield; Pita Shack, Union; Portugal Express, Elizabeth; The Tavern at Ashbrook, Scotch Plains; and the brand new El Nacho’s Tequila Cantina, Elizabeth.
 
These new participants join the following returning vendors:  BarCode, Bayway Liquors, CATB Liquor Import, Charles Jacquin Cie, Inc., Chevy’s Fresh Mex. Come Grow With Us Gardens, Climax Brewing Co., Thomas A. Edison Academy Culinary Arts School, Elizabeth High School Interact Club, First Republic Restaurant & Lounge, Gallo Wine Sales of NJ, Garcia’s Liquor Depot, Garden Restaurant, IKEA Restaurant, Italian Products USA, Liberty Hall Museum, Nicastro Gourmet Sauces, Noches de Colombia, Pinho Bakery, Red Knot at Galloping Hill, Renaissance Newark Airport Hotel, Rio Rodizio, Senor Sangria, ShopRite of Clark, Sonic Drive In – Elizabeth, Tequila Bistro, Trinitas Regional Medical Center, Tropicana Diner & Bakery, Tumi International Restaurant, Valenca Restaurant and Warinanco Sports Center. 
Explained Doug Harris, Chairman of the Taste of Elizabeth, “Each year, the Taste of Elizabeth combines the Elizabeth area’s newest and most exciting restaurants, together with many popular traditional eateries.  To have so many tempting selections all in one location, on one night, is truly outstanding.”  He added, “The best part is the fact that all profits from the event are given to area charities by the Rotary Club of Elizabeth.”
 
During Taste of Elizabeth XIIl, guests will also be able to participate in a 50/50 raffle and a Tricky Tray silent auction.  Funds raised from the event will enable the Rotary Club to continue to provide financial grants to local non-profit agencies and to provide college scholarships through the Albert & Louise Davis Scholarship Fund of the Rotary Club of Elizabeth, Inc.  Since its founding in 1986, the Davis Fund has provided a total of $608,000 in scholarships to 338 students.
