Elder Abuse Prevention Program

SAGE Eldercare is offering a program about the warning signs and prevention of elder abuse on Wednesday, March 7, 2018. Every year approximately four million older Americans are victims of physical, psychological, and/or other forms of abuse and neglect according to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Elder abuse refers to intentional or neglectful acts by a caregiver or “trusted” individual that lead to, or may lead to, harm of a vulnerable senior. Elder abuse can occur anywhere: in the home, in nursing homes or other institutions. It affects older adults across all socio-economic groups, cultures, and races. Join us for this invaluable presentation which highlights warning signs, what to do if you suspect you or someone you know is being abused, and how to prevent the abuse from happening. The program will be led by Lillian Ribeiro, Community Educator, YWCA Union County. This presentation is open to all, 1 to 2 p.m. at SAGE Eldercare, 290 Broad Street, Summit, New Jersey. To register or for more information, please call 908-598-5548 or email education@sageeldercare.org.
