In May of 2019, the State of New Jersey held the Jefferson Awards Ceremony for Public Service at the Trenton War Memorial. Clark resident, Ed Dubroski, was the proud recipient of New Jersey State Governor’s Jefferson Award for Leadership and Innovation. He received this award for creating and implementing the Brotherhood of Locomotive Safety Task Force, which worked alongside the National Transportation Safety Board, to investigate and determine the cause of train accidents throughout the United States.
As International President Emeritus of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers (BLE), an international railroad union representing approximately 70,000 train engineers in the United States and Canada, Dubroski created this agency to study the causes of train accidents and to recommend safety measures to ensure they didn’t occur again.
Dubroski was also the recipient of the 2018 NJ State Governor’s Jefferson Award for Public Service for his Environmental Stewardship. He received the award for his efforts to eliminate Polychlorinated Biphenyl, also known as PCB, which is a cancer causing chemical from locomotive engines and roundhouses.
The Jefferson Awards is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious recognition program for volunteer public service of the United States Senate. Mr. Dubroski’s award for Leadership and Innovative Stewardship specifically recognizes volunteers who pioneered and promoted leadership and innovative ways.
