Donation to the Linden Fire Department

A few months ago Infineum of Linden reached out to The Linden Fire Department with an offer of a $5,000 donation for fitness equipment for the Linden firehouses. For years Infineum and the Linden Fire Department have worked together to run many public programs, but this time Infineum wanted to make a commitment to help with keeping firefighters fit. It was due to Infineum’s initiative and generosity that the City of Linden and Firefighter’s Unions FMBA 34 and Fire Officers FMBA 234 also decided also decided to join Infineum and make donations to replace a lot of the old, outdated and unsafe fitness and gym equipment in the firehouses.
Firefighting is one of the most physically taxing and demanding jobs, and therefore firefighters need to keep at top physical shape at all times. Not only do firefighters need to have good strength, but they also need to keep their heart and cardiovascular system in shape. Heart disease and heart attacks are the #1 killer of firefighters, so helping them maintain top physical shape is a key to cutting down the risk of heart disease.
Linden Fire Chief Joseph Dooley spoke of the donations by saying “The Linden Fire Department is thankful to Linden FMBA unions and the City OF Linden for their commitment in keeping their members health in the forefront. The biggest thank you goes to Infineum for their generous donation. Their commitment to giving back to the community truly got the ball rolling on the overhaul of the firehouse gyms”.
Once Infineum and The FMBA’s donations were committed, the Linden Fire Department purchased new weight machines and cardio equipment for all 4 houses. The LFD is implementing a workout program to put the equipment to use and keep the firefighters at peak shape.
