Last December Doc Burkhardt, aka James Caldwell, from the Union Township Historical Society visited the four kindergartens and three first grade classes at Connecticut Farms School, Union, to talk with the children about citizenship and community. The students practiced using their listening skills to help foster good communication among them. The presentations were facilitated by Ms. Ashley Kondracki, Acting School Counselor.
Mr. Burkhardt and Ms. Kondracki also took turns reading “Zero” by Kathryn Otoshi to the classes. The book tells the story of the “big round number” and is a springboard to “developing social skills.”
