Linden and Rahway Cub Scouts visit Hawk Rise Sanctuary
Cub Scouts from Rahway Cub Scout Pack 47 joined forces with new Pack 913 from Linden on Sunday, March 24,2019 to explore the Salt Marsh at Hawk Rise Sanctuary, a 95-acre ecological preserve and wetland complex in located at 1811 Lower Rd, Linden, NJ, bordering the Rahway River.
Scouts, kindergarten age to 3rd grade, walked along the gravel path, picking up garbage along the way, and looking for signs of spring and wildlife activity. With a scavenger hunt list to take nothing but pictures, they found some amazing finds, like a whole grouping of daffodils and animal tracks from raccoons, birds, and possibly even a coyote, which aren’t normally seen this far north. The Packs are looking forward to returning when the Sanctuary is in full life. Pack 913 and Pack 47 are Family Scouting units, open to Boys and Girls K-5th.
