Cranford Police Department Announces “B Hard Headed” Raffle Winner

In May 2018, the Cranford Police Department and Children’s Specialized Hospital Safe Kids Union County teamed up to launch the “B Hard Headed” campaign. The campaign was a safety initiative aimed at using positive reinforcement as a way to educate the importance of helmet safety and brain injury prevention.

Children in Cranford who were seen by police practicing safe behaviors, like wearing their bicycle helmet, were issued a summons redeemable for a free slice of pizza at a local pizza establishment. In addition, the summons entered the child into a raffle for a new bicycle which was donated by Children’s Specialized Hospital.

This year’s lucky raffle winner was 7-year-old Owen Wolfe of Cranford. Owen was caught wearing his bicycle helmet riding along North Union Avenue by Patrolman Kelly Rieder. Owen and his family picked up the new bicycle just in time to enjoy it for the summer.
