People of all ages are encouraged to attend this community-wide fundraiser for the Sixth Annual Miracles for Myeloma 5K Run/Walk scheduled for Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Oak Ridge Park in Clark. The course is a USATF certified course and medals will be given for best times in various age categories. You can participate by running, walking, or making a donation. All proceeds are donated to the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF). Multiple Myeloma is an incurable cancer of plasma cells which attacks and destroys bone.
The entry fee is $35 per walker or runner. The fee for children ages 4 to 12 is $20. Runners and walkers may also register for a fee of $40 on the day of the event, so you are encouraged to register early. Registration will open at 8:00 a.m. with the race officially starting at 9:30 a.m.
A Remembrance Path, where maroon and white balloons attached to placards with the names of people being honored or remembered will be featured. Maroon balloons are designated for patients living with Myeloma, and white balloons are in remembrance of those who have passed on from the disease. A brief personal message can be included on the placard. Anyone can purchase these for an additional $25.00 donation.
The co-founders of the race are Clark resident Sheree Pask, a Myeloma survivor and a teacher at The Presbyterian Nursery School in Westfield, and Westfield resident Gina Klemm, whose brother Frank Guarino died of the disease in 2012.
Come out and join us as we make Miracles happen again!
