Submitted by Theresa Sowa

The May meeting of the College Women’s Club of Cranford will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church on Springfield Avenue in Cranford, New Jersey. The Garden State in Bloom will be the topic of the May meeting presentation by Walter Choroszewski, New Jersey photographer. He has published 18 photographic books and has been a leading advocate of New Jersey Pride since 1980 when he was commissioned to photograph the state for a book project, New Jersey: A Scenic Discovery which launched his photographic career and link to the Garden State.
During this presentation Mr. Choroszewski will revisit the beautiful public gardens of New Jersey pictured in his award-winning book, The Garden State in Bloom. This program showcases Walter’s 25 favorite public gardens with colorful photography and historical information about each garden. Choroszewski’s photographs were the inspiration for creating the iconic state tourism campaign: “New Jersey & You: Perfect Together!” Walter was the primary photographer of the campaign through the ’80s and ’90s and was awarded the first New Jersey Photo Journalism Award by Governor Thomas Kean in 1989.
In addition to state tourism, Choroszewski’s photographs of New Jersey are widely published in calendars, magazines, and textbooks. His fine art prints and murals of New Jersey are found in corporations, hospitals and in many private collections.
The evening will begin with refreshments at 7 p.m. followed by the meeting and Mr. Choroszewski’s program. The meeting is open to the public.
