Coles School Celebrates Earth Day
Submitted by Elizabeth Valcich
The Earth Day committee at JA Coles School was busy this April. They planned two Earth Day projects to promote recycling for both students and parents. First, the Superhero Recycled Project asked students to create superheroes using recycled materials like paper towels rolls, egg cartons and craft supplies. The wonderful creations are on display in the main lobby of Coles for all students and staff to see.
The committee also conducted a shoe collection and collected over 150 pairs of shoes. Jack Rabbit in downtown Westfield will distribute shoes that are in good condition to various charities and donate “loved” shoes with rubber soles to companies that upcycle the rubber into rubberized wood chips for playgrounds.
