In honor of Black History Month, Grover Cleveland Elementary school presented two engaging and rewarding school assemblies. On February 5th, there was an incredible display of artifacts presented by Ms. Gwen Ragsdale, curator of the Lest We Forget Slavery Museum from Philadelphia PA. Ms. Ragsdale shared historical relics with our 4th, 5th and 6th grade students. She provided a timeline of artifacts that spanned from slavery to the civil rights era. Students were enthralled with her presentation.
On February 10th, the 6th grade class was greeted by several African American professionals for the first annual career day. Students had a chance to engage with people of very diverse work backgrounds. They shared their academic and professional experiences with our students.
Thanks to the following individuals for sharing your time: Mr. David Hall – Director Covenant House NJ, Ms. Mirna White- Attorney, Mr. Wayne Bullock-Playwright, Mr. Marlon Terrell – Owner/Operator Chic-Fil-A, Badia Farha – Singer/Performer. Our students were left with a lasting impression that with hard work and determination anything is possible.
