Clark Public Library Announces September Events

Clark Public Library September 2021

The library is now open during normal, pre-pandemic hours! Masks are optional for vaccinated individuals. 

All children’s events will be outdoor, virtual, or hybrid until further notice. Please register for any programs by emailing reference@clarklibrary.org and state which program you would like to attend, or through the online calendar on our website at clarklibrary.org.

[Adult] Fun Friday Crafternoon on Friday, September 3 at 3:30 p.m. 

We will be making a yarn-wrapped clay pot. This is an Adult craft, but high school students are welcome to participate.

Krafty Kids on Wednesdays, September 8, 22, and 29 at 3:30 p.m.

Join us as we make some fun and creative artwork. Using a few art supplies we will make a new craft each week! Don’t forget to bring your imagination and creativity! 

[Virtual] Adult Coloring Club on Friday, September 3, 10, & 24 at 11:00 a.m.

Coloring is a great way to unwind and relieve some stress! Pick up coloring sheets and crayons at the library or use your own and meet up on Zoom for some soothing music and relaxation.

[Hybrid] Tales for Tots on Mondays, September 13, 20, 27 at 10:00 a.m.

Stories, fingerplays, and songs for active listeners. Geared toward ages 2-3 with a caregiver. Older children are welcome! Event will be held outdoors. In case of rain, everyone may attend virtually.

[Hybrid] Baby Bookworms on Tuesdays, September 14, 21, and 28 at 10:00 a.m.

Baby Bookworms is in person or via Zoom! Babies and toddlers are invited to listen to some books, and learn some songs, rhymes, lap bounces, and fingerplays! Please register to get the Zoom link to attend virtually. The event will be held outside behind the library. In case of rain, the event will be virtual. 

[Teen] Pumpkin Spice Sugar Scrub on Tuesday, September 14 at 3:00 p.m.

It’s time to get ready for fall! We’ll be making yummy-smelling pumpkin spice sugar scrub. Drop-in anytime between 3:00 and 4:00 pm. Open to teens in Grades 6-12. 

Unique Creatures on Thursday, September 16 at 2:00 p.m.

No school means fun at the library! We will get to meet 6 real, live unique creatures outside at the library! Please register for this family event so we can ensure the optimal animals for the crowd size. Priority registration will be given to Clark residents. You may be placed on the waitlist if you live outside of Clark until closer to the event.

[Hybrid] Stories & More on Fridays September 17 and 24 at 10:00 a.m.

Join us outdoors for stories, songs, and rhymes. A take home craft will be provided. If raining, this event will be virtual for all. This program is designed for children ages 3 and up. Registration is required.

Read to Sophie on Saturday, September 18 at 10:00 a.m., 10:15 a.m., 10:30 a.m., or 10:45 a.m.

If you have a young, reluctant or struggling reader, we want you to meet Sophie! Sophie is a therapy dog that will be a non-judgmental listener and furry friend to read to that won’t laugh if they make a mistake or stumble over a word. Children learn to associate reading with being with the dog, and begin to view reading in a positive way. Over time, the child’s reading ability and confidence can improve because they are practicing their skills. Children will each get approximately 15 minutes of reading time with Sophie. Please register for a time slot. This event will be held outdoors.

[Adult] Third Thursday Evening Craft on Thursday, September 16 at 7:00 p.m.

Chess Club for Kids on Monday, September 20 at 6:30 p.m.

Children ages 6 and up are invited to come to the library for chess club! We welcome beginners and those wanting to learn new tips or wanting to hone their skills. We will be meeting outside, weather permitting. Registration is requested.

Evening Book Club on Monday, September 20 at 7:00 p.m.

Join us for our next evening book club meeting. We will be discussing “The Great Alone” by Kristin Hannah. Please speak with a librarian or email reference@clarklibrary.org if you need a copy of the book.

Little Scientists on Thursday, September 23 at 4:00 p.m.

Learn how to build and create with our DIY Maker Kits! Each session will be a different Maker Kit that will touch upon a different STEM skill.

The Five Week Book Club on Thursday, September 23 at 7:00 p.m.

Welcome to our new non-fiction and historical fiction book group. We’ll meet approximately every five weeks. We will be discussing Trevor Noah’s Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood. Please speak with a librarian or email reference@clarklibrary.org if you need a copy of the book.

Who Was Book Club on Tuesday, September 28 at 4:00 p.m.

Kids who enjoy reading the Who Was series or like learning about interesting people are invited to join us outside for our Who Was…Book Club! Each month we will read a book from this fun series focusing on a particular type of person, such as inventor, athlete, musician, etc, and then come together to discuss and share what we have learned and do a related activity. This month choose a sportsperson to read about!

Tinker Tots on Thursday, September 23 at 10:00 a.m.

Come join us for a morning of fun science activities perfect for little ones. Event will be held outside. In case of rain, we will reschedule. For children ages pre-k and younger. Please register.

Lego Club on Thursday, September 30 at 4:00 p.m.

Join us for the LEGO® Club at the Clark Public Library! Create your own LEGO® structures. LEGO® are provided by the library. Creations are displayed in the Children’s Area. For children in grades K – 5. Event will be held outdoors.

Boredom Buster for Kids

Each month we have a new take-home craft for kids to pick up and make at their leisure. This month will be a back-to-school craft. While supplies last, no registration. Available beginning September 1.

Adult and Teen Boredom Buster

The September Adult and Teen Boredom Buster is Sticker Painting. While supplies last, no registration. Available beginning September 1.

Movies may be returning to the library in the fall. Dates and times to be announced.
