Clark Public Library Announces December Events

Clark Public Library December 2021

The library is now open normal, pre-pandemic hours!  Masks are optional for vaccinated individuals. 

The library will be closed on Friday, December 24th, and Saturday, December 25th for Christmas. The library will also be closed Friday, December 31st, and Saturday, January 1st for New Years.

All children’s events will be outdoors when weather permits, virtual, hybrid, or indoor with masks for people over 3 years of age until further notice.  Mask requirements will be re-evaluated by the library board on a monthly basis. Please register for any programs by emailing reference@clarklibrary.org and state which program you would like to attend or through the online calendar on our website at clarklibrary.org.

Chess Club for Adults

The Chess Club meets Thursdays between 11 am-3 pm. New members welcome.

Fridays, December 3 and 10 at 10:00 am

Join us outdoors behind the library for stories, songs, and rhymes.  A take-home craft will be provided.  If it rains, this event will be virtual. This program is designed for children ages 3 and up. Registration is required.

Celebrate the Winter Solstice and its Starry, Starry Nights. We are making luminaries, by decorating mason jars. This is an Adult craft but Teens in High School are welcome to attend!

Tales for Tots

Monday, December 6 at 10:00 am

Stories and songs for active listeners.  Geared toward ages 2-3 with a caregiver. Older children are welcome! Event will be held outdoors behind the library. In case of weather, the program will be held indoors and masks are required for anyone 2 and up. Masks are being monitored on a monthly basis.

Virtual Chess Club for Kids

Children ages 6 and up are invited to attend chess club virtually!  We welcome beginners and those wanting to learn new tips or wanting to hone their skills. We will be over Zoom.  Participants will be able to compete against each other in breakout rooms. Chromebooks are available for Clark residents to borrow. Registration is required for the Zoom link.

Baby Bookworms

Tuesday, December 7 at 10:00 am

Babies and toddlers are invited to listen to some books, and learn some songs, rhymes, lap bounces, and fingerplays!  The event will be held outside behind the library. In case of rain, the event will be virtual.

Teen Tuesday: DIY Cricut Holiday Mug

December 7 at 3:00 pm

Learn about our Cricut machine as we decorate mugs with holiday or winter-themed Cricut vinyls of your choice. Open to grades 5-12. 

Totally New Tuesdays

December 7, 14, 21, and 28 at 6:30 pm

Origami Holiday Wreath Class

Wednesday, December 8 at 11:00 am

Create a holiday-themed origami wreath with instructor Joy Ann Lara. All supplies provided. This class is for adults 18 and older.

[Virtual] Adult Coloring Club

Thursdays, December 9 and 30 at 11:00 am

Coloring is a great way to unwind and relieve some stress! Pick up coloring sheets and crayons at the library or use your own and meet up on Zoom for some soothing music and relaxation.


Read to Sophie

Saturday, December 11 at 10:00 am, 10:15 am, 10:30 am, or 10:45 am

If you have a young, reluctant, or struggling reader, we want you to meet Sophie!  Sophie is a therapy dog that will be a non-judgmental listener and furry friend to read to that won’t laugh if they make a mistake or stumble over a word. Children learn to associate reading with being with the dog and begin to view reading in a positive way. Over time, the child’s reading ability and confidence can improve because they are practicing their skills.  Children will each get approximately 15 minutes of reading time with Sophie.  Please register for a time slot.  

Krafty Kids

Wednesday, December 15 and 29 at 3:30 pm

Join us as we make some fun and creative artwork. Using a few art supplies we will make a new craft each week!  Don’t forget to bring your imagination and creativity!  Program will be held outdoors, weather permitting.  If indoors, masks are required for people older than 2.  Mask requirements are being re-evaluated monthly.

Tinker Tots

Come join us for a morning of fun science activities perfect for little ones.  For children ages pre-k and younger. Please register.

Finger Painting Friday

Friday, December 17 at 10:00 am

No childhood is complete without some good, old-fashioned, messy finger painting.  We will read a story and then make some squishy, colorful creations.  Wear some old clothes! Clark residents will have priority registration.

Make a Gingerbread House for Kids

Wednesday, Dec 22 at 3:30 pm or Thursday, Dec. 23 at 2:00 pm

Build your own “gingerbread” house with graham crackers.  For ages 4 and up. We will be using food products.  Ingredient labels will be available for any allergy concerns. Priority registration for Clark residents.  Non-residents will be placed on the waitlist until it has been determined that there is enough room.

Lego® Mania on Thursday, December 30 from 3:00 pm-5:00 pm

Join us for a fun filled Lego® afternoon!  We will have a themed Lego® building contest with prizes, a Lego® themed craft, and eat some popcorn, all while watching The Lego® Movie.

Our annual Winter Reading Program begins Monday, December 20!  Sign up and keep track of your reading on the free Beanstack app or online at clarklibrary.beanstack.org! Kids earn prizes and all ages will earn raffle tickets based on how much they read!

Boredom Buster for Kids

Each month we have a new take-home craft for kids to pick up and make at their leisure.  While supplies last, no registration. Available beginning December 1.

Boredom Buster for Teens

Pick up a holiday charm bracelet kit to make at home. Available to teens in Grades 6-12. While supplies last, no registration. Kits can be picked up at the reference desk beginning December 1.
