Clark Library March 2021 Events

The library is open by appointment only at this time for Clark Residents. Call 732-388-5999 and press extension 2 to make an appointment for up to 30 minutes. Patrons will be able to browse and check the computers. Curbside pickup and mobile printing will be available for all card holders at this time without appointment.

Hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday 9:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.; and Saturday 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Hours are subject to change, so please check our website or call before coming. The capacity will be reduced and we will be practicing social distancing. Masks will be required when in the building. Our librarians are here to help with reference questions or book recommendations.

All items must be returned in the book drop and will be in quarantine for 7-10 days. The items stay on your card during this time. You will not be charged overdues for the time the items are quarantining.

Events will be held virtually via Zoom. Please register for any programs by emailing reference@clarklibrary.org and state which program you would like to attend and you will be sent a link to the meeting. You may also register through the online calendar on our website at clarklibrary.org.

Boredom Buster for Kids

Each month we have a new take home craft for kids to pick up and make at their leisure. While supplies last, no registration. Available beginning March 1.

Teen Take-Out Craft

Reserve a St. Patrick’s Day beaded bracelet kit starting Monday, March 8. The kit will include supplies and instructions. Priority registration for Clark residents. Email reference@clarklibrary.org or call 732-388-5999 to reserve a kit. Open to teens in Grades 6-12 while supplies last.

[Adult DIY Craft] Ceramic Whale Painting

Our March Adult DIY Craft is painting a ceramic whale. The take-out kit will include supplies and instructions so that you can make it at home without a group Zoom class. Please reserve the kit through our online calendar starting on February 22. Pickup begins on Friday, March 5. Open to adults while supplies last. *Clark card holders will have priority.

Sophie the therapy dog is available to listen to your child practice reading via Zoom! She is has very flexible availability. Please email ReadToSophie@gmail.com to make an appointment.

[Virtual] Baby Bookworms on Tuesdays, March 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30 at 10:00 a.m.

Baby Bookworms is virtual via Zoom! Babies and toddlers are invited to hear some books, and learn some songs, rhymes, lap bounces, and fingerplays! Please register to get the Zoom link to attend.

[Virtual] Read Across America Celebration on Tuesday, March 2 at 4:00 p.m.

We will celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday and Read Across America day virtually via Zoom. We will hear a book or two, play book trivia games, and play Book Bingo! Geared to ages 4 and up. Trivia geared to elementary aged children. Please register to get the Zoom link.

[Virtual] 8 Minute Lego Challenges on Thursday, March 4 at 4:00 p.m.

Join us via Zoom to express your creativity with our Timed Lego Building Challenge. Kids will get a prompt, such as a “piece of furniture” and then have 8 minutes to build it with Lego. There will be an hour filled with different prompts! If you do not have your own Lego, please contact the Children’s Department of the library. 

[Virtual] Preschool Story & Craft on Fridays, March 5, 12, 19, and 26 at 10:00 a.m.

Stories, rhymes, songs, and simple craft on Zoom. Please register to be provided most craft materials and the Zoom link.

[Virtual] Adult Coloring Club on Fridays March 5, 12, 19, and 26 at 11:00 a.m. (New Time)

Coloring is a great way to unwind and relieve some stress! Pick up coloring sheets and crayons at the library and meet up on Zoom for some soothing music and relaxation. Once you register, you’ll be emailed when your supplies are ready to be picked up at the library.

[Virtual] Adult Evening Book Club on Monday, March 8 at 7:00 p.m. 

Join us for our next virtual book club meeting. We will be discussing Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance. Please speak with a librarian if you need a copy of the book. 

[Virtual-Adult] Creativebug: 31 Things to Draw with Lasa Congdon on Wednesday, March 10 and March 17 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Did you know the library subscribes to Creativebug, which provides thousands of arts & crafts video classes taught by artists? Using the Creativebug database, we will be hosting a basic, 2-session drawing class “31 Things to Draw with Lasa Congdon” in March. You will learn to draw 31 different objects in a variety of ways and explore different patterns and motifs. We will watch videos and practice drawing together via Zoom. Drawing paper and pens are supplied. 

After registering, you will be emailed when your materials are ready for pickup and you will be sent the Zoom link. Creativebug database is available to Clark residents only, but others may participate in this class.

[Virtual] Intro to Greek Mythology for Kids on Thursday, March 11 at 4:00 p.m.

Kids in grades 3 and up are invited to join us with a special guest host, Mirika Jambudi, to learn about Greek gods and mythology! This fun, interactive workshop is part of her Girl Scout Gold Award! Please register to get the Zoom link.

Teen Take & Make: DIY Wooden Shamrock Mod Podge Ornaments on Monday, March 15 at 4:00 p.m.

Decorate wooden shamrock ornaments with St. Patrick’s Day scrapbook paper and mod podge for a unique St. Patrick’s day decoration. Once you register, you’ll be emailed when your supplies are ready to be picked up at the library. Join us for an optional online get-together as we make the ornaments together over Zoom. Open to teens in Grades 6-12.

[Virtual] St. Patrick’s Day Story & Craft for Children on Wednesday, March 17 at 4:00 p.m.

Hear a story or two and make a craft to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! Craft geared to ages 4 and up. Priority registration for Clark residents.

[Virtual] Family Game Night on Thursday, March 18 at 6:30 p.m.

Our monthly family game night will feature PICTIONARY using the Zoom whiteboard this month! Children, parents, and grandparents are invited to play along! Please register to get the Zoom link.

NJ Maker’s Day on Friday, March 19-Saturday, March 20

All ages are encouraged to make something at home this week and share a picture with us to share on social media! Email a picture of any type of creation you made to dmorley@clarklibrary.org and we will post your creations on our social media pages on Saturday, March 20. Last names will be withheld unless you specify that you want your name published or you can choose to remain anonymous on the post. Get a free book for participating!

[Virtual] Dandelion Painting for Adults on Wednesday, March 24 at 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Join us for an adult painting class via Zoom. We will paint dandelions with acrylic painting techniques on a canvas. After registering, you will be emailed when your materials are ready for pickup and you will be sent the Zoom link to make it together. All materials are provided except a paint brush. Register through our online calendar or emailreference@clarklibrary.org. *Clark card holders will have priority.

[Virtual] Who Was… Book Club for Kids on Wednesday, March 24 at 4:00 p.m.

Kids in 2nd-6th grade are invited to join us via Zoom for our re-ignited Who Was…book club! Each month we will read a book from this fun series focusing on a particular type of person, such as inventor, athlete, musician, etc. and then come together to discuss and share what we have learned and do a related activity. This month is Women’s History Month, so read about any woman. Please register to receive the Zoom link.
