Clark American Legion Auxiliary Works For Veterans

September is the start of Clark Post 328 American Legion Auxiliary year of activities. New members are always welcome to join. We need volunteers to help in our many activities to support our veterans here in Clark or at our nearby Veterans facilities. Our meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month at the American Legion Post 328 Hall at 78 Westfield Avenue, Clark. This year’s first meeting is September 7th at 7 p.m.
Our first fundraiser this year is a yard sale to be held September 24th at the American Legion Post on Westfield Avenue, Clark.
The American Legion Auxiliary is a service organization to support The American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military and their families both home and abroad. The American Legion Auxiliary Clark Post 328 actively works to advocate for our veterans, educate our citizens, mentor youth, and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace and security.
Our main fundraiser is the annual Poppy Drive. Every May members go to local businesses and shops to offer poppies to all citizens to memorialize those veterans who gave their lives in service of our country. Surely you have seen our red poppies being handed out at supermarkets, bakeries and shops.
One of the activities the Post Auxiliary supports is Girls State, sending two local high school girls to the annual convention. Our volunteers also visit elderly veterans who live in the Menlo Park Veterans Memorial Home and female veterans at Lyons Veterans Hospital for a fun evening of arts, crafts, pizza and laughs. In past years we have also made hand-sewn quilts that were raffled off to raise funds for local veteran causes. The Auxiliary also holds a Pancake Breakfast and a Pasta Night during the year. Our activities culminate in June with a festive buffet for our members. Become a member and help our veterans.
