City of Summit Announces 2017 Halloween Events

The City of Summit is announcing a number of Halloween events will be held throughout the month of October, including Scream on the Green movie night, the annual Halloween parade, pumpkin painting, and trick-or-treating in downtown Summit. Members of the public are invited to attend.
The Summit Department of Community Programs is hosting a Scream on the Green movie night on Friday, October 27 at the Village Green, featuring the movie Beauty and the Beast. The family dance party begins at 6PM and the movie starts at dusk. Food vendors, bonfires, and free s’mores will be available for attendees on the Village Green. Movie goers are encouraged to bring a blanket or chairs as no seating will be provided for the movie.
The Summit Police Athletic League and Department of Community Programs are hosting the annual Halloween parade through downtown Summit on Saturday, October 28 at 3PM. The parade will begin at 25 Deforest Avenue and continue to the Village Green; it will feature a costume contest and live entertainment. The parade will take place rain or shine.
The Summit Area YMCA and Summit Free Public Library are hosting Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 28 in the library parking lot from 7 to 9PM. Children of all ages are invited to attend dressed in costume and go trick-or-treating among parked cars. The event will feature crafts, games, Halloween stories, and more. Community members that are interested in participating with a car for the event should register in advance on the library website.
Children are invited to paint pumpkins on Sunday, October 29 from 10AM to 12PM at the Summit Farmers Market, located in the Park and Shop Lot #2 on the corner of Deforest Avenue and Maple Street. Small pumpkins will be sold for $3 at the painting booth; participants can purchase squash from available vendors to paint as well. Painting supplies will be provided for free.
Trick-or-treating in downtown Summit will be held on Tuesday, October 31 from 2:30 to 4PM. Children are invited to trick-or-treat at businesses with a Halloween sign displayed in the window.
