Chatham resident Meegan Carey Represents at Bishop’s Mass

Submitted by Lisa Teevan Carey

Chatham resident Meegan Carey, 8, was invited to participate as a First Communicant in a Mass with Bishop Arthur Serratelli on June 3, 2018 at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Paterson, New Jersey.  Meegan received her First Holy Communion on May 5, 2018 at her parish, Corpus Christi in Chatham Township.  She represented her parish in the Diocesan Mass in Paterson, and was the only Communicant from Chatham out of 150 children, who wore their Communion finery to the event.  Families attended from about 55 parishes from across the Diocese, which includes Passaic, Morris and Sussex counties.
Meegan and her family enjoyed the reception after the special Mass and spirited question and answer period to the Bishop.  He presented her with gift and signed her Communion book upon her request.
