Fanwood-Scotch Plains Service League Thrift Shop Offers Several October Events

The Fanwood-Scotch Plains Service League is kicking off the fall with a series of seasonal events at its non-profit Thrift Shop, 1741 East Second Street, Scotch Plains. Starting Tuesday, Oct. 3, find a variety of Halloween costumes for children, adults and pets, along with related holiday accessories. Included for sale are Disney character costumes and several “Curtain Call Costumes” bound to enchant children with a penchant for the stage!  Why spend a fortune for Halloween when you can find spook-tacular costumes in all sizes for trick or treating and holiday parties?

Tuesday, Oct. 10 marks the start of the Thrift Shop’s annual Boot Bonanza, where a wide assortment of both warm and fashion-minded boots from famous names can be found throughout the store. Men, women and children can walk off in style or keep their toes warm and dry with reasonably-priced footwear to outsmart the cold, wet weather ahead. Be sure to shop early for the best selection.

Finally, a one-day Jewelry event will be held on Saturday, October 21, during regular business hours (10 a.m. – 1 p.m.). The event will highlight the higher-end pieces generously donated throughout the year. Savvy shoppers will find necklaces, bracelets, watches, rings and earrings, including vintage pieces, sterling silver, pearls and more. The special sale is a must for those who appreciate top-notch jewelry at low-end price points!

The Fanwood-Scotch Plains Service League is a local, all-volunteer organization. The League operates the Thrift Shop with merchandise provided by donors who supply the store with good-quality merchandise they no longer need. Clothing in all sizes, shoes, bric-a-brac, linens, household goods, toys, games, books, DVDs and more are constantly replenished. That means customers can always find something “new to them!” All proceeds outside of store operating expenses are provided to local non-profit organizations or used for student scholarships.

Regular store hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. To learn more about the Service League, volunteer opportunities and types of donations accepted call the store during Thrift Shop business hours: 908-322-5420.
