Bloomingdale Avenue School and Orange Avenue School Fall 5K and Fun Run

Submitted by Patricia MacLean

When dawn broke on November 4th, 2018, volunteers scurried around Bloomingdale Avenue School, setting up tables and setting out treats in preparation for the hundreds of runners who were going to cross the finish line of the Bloomingdale Avenue School and Orange Avenue School Fall 5K and Fun Run.

Now in its 7th year, the 5K and Fun Run serve as the largest fundraiser for both the BAS and OAS PTAs. The money raised is used to provide valuable programs and activities for teachers and students alike.

The one-mile Fun Run provided a great opportunity for children and parents to run together or, in some cases, race each other to the finish line.

Showcasing a brand new 5K course, the fall colors were in full effect as runners wound around both schools and into the leafy residential neighborhoods nearby. Children brandished newly-made signs cheering on their parents to the finish line, supporting each other and their schools all at the same time.
