The Mountainside Public Library has scheduled the following programs for August. The Library will be closed on Saturdays during August and on September 2.
Tuesday Night Movies:
Our first movie this month, on August 1, will be The Dressmaker (2015, R). The Dressmaker tells the story of the beautiful and talented Tilly Dunnage who, after years working as a dressmaker in exclusive Parisian fashion houses, returns home to a town in the Australian outback to reconcile with her eccentric mother Molly. Armed with her sewing machine and haute couture style, Tilly transforms the women of the town, exacting sweet revenge on those who did her wrong.
Passengers (2016, PG-13)
is our offering on August 8. Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt star in an exciting action-thriller about two passengers who are on a 120-year journey to another planet when their hibernation pods wake them 90 years too early. They are forced to unravel the mystery behind the malfunction as the ship teeters on the brink of collapse, with the lives of thousands of passengers in jeopardy.
On August 15, Jack Reacher Never Go Back (2016, PG-13)
will be shown. Tom Cruise returns as Jack Reacher in this sequel based on Lee Child’s bestselling novel Never Go Back, which finds the itinerant problem-solver accused of murder, and learning that he may have a child he has never met.
Allied (2016, R) will be screened on August 22.
The story of intelligence officer Max Vatan, who in 1942 North Africa encounters French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Reunited in London, their relationship is threatened by the extreme pressures of the war.
Our final offering of the month on August 29 is The Zookeeper’s Wife (2017, PG-13).
The Zookeeper’s Wife tells the account of the keepers of the Warsaw Zoo, Antonina and Jan Zabinski, who helped save hundreds of people and animals during the German invasion. Showtime is 6:30 PM for each movie.
Brown Bag Academy, Wonders of the National Parks presented by Professor Ford Cochran ends on August 14.
Story Time at the Pool, Wednesdays, August 2 thru 23 from 3:00 – 3:30 PM. Join Miss Elizabeth at the Mountainside Community Pool for children’s stories pool side. Take a break from the water to listen. Just drop in! Open to Mountainside Community pool members only.
Summer Reading Wrap Up Party and Movie. Tuesday, August 8 from 2:00 — 5:00 PM. Reading certificates will be distributed. There will be snacks, prizes and a book for everyone to keep! And, The LEGO Batman Movie (PG) will be shown! No registration required for the party, just drop in!
