August Events at the Linden Public Library

Offerings at the Linden Public Library this August include a Robert De Niro film series, children’s movie screenings, and an acoustic blues concert. Located at 31 East Henry Street in Linden, the Linden Public Library celebrates its 90th anniversary in 2018. Robert De Niro to be Celebrated at Linden Public Library

The Linden Public Library will celebrate American acting icon Robert De Niro’s 75th birthday with a special series of his films during the month of August. De Niro will turn 75 on August 17th. Each film is presented free of charge in the Columbia Bank Room.

Children’s Summertime Films

Looking for a way to beat the heat and keep your children entertained during August? The Linden Public Library has the answer as it will feature three children’s films at the library. All film will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the Columbia Bank Room.

August 9th
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone – (PG; 152 minutes)

Join us for the beginning of Harry Potter’s adventure that carries through seven best- selling books, which were adapted into eight blockbuster films. Released in 2001, the first movie was released as a gifted boy wizard leaves the home of his cruel aunt and uncle who have raised him as he begins an education at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.

August 16th – Coraline  – (PG; 100 minutes)

Based on Neil Gaiman’s popular children’s book, this 2009 movie tells the tale of an 11-year old girl who finds another world that is a strangely idealized version of her frustrating home but also has many sinister secrets. This Academy Award-nominated animated film features of the vocal talents of Dakota Fanning and Teri Hatcher.

Acoustic Blues with Rising Performing Artist Zoe Evans

The Linden Public Library will present an Evening of Acoustic Blues with rising singer and composer Zoe Evans. The concert will be held at the library on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Columbia Bank Room. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Linden Library. Light refreshments will be served.

Born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Evans began singing and playing the piano at age 3 and could sing before she could talk. She wrote and recorded her first album titled Raw when she was 15 years old and later attended Berklee College of Music where she studied songwriting. Evans has performed in a host of venues from coast to coast. Zoe is a Linden resident and cites John Lennon, Lauryn Hill, Pharell and John Legend among her many influences. She is currently working on her latest EP recording.
