Annual Baby Shower To Help Families In Need

The Christ Child Society of Summit is hosting its 10th Annual Baby Shower on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at St. Teresa of Avila, Memorial Hall at St. Teresa of Avila 306 Morris Ave. Summit, NJ. The Christ Child Society of Summit provides bundles of essential clothing, or layettes, to babies at Overlook and Morristown Hospital free pediatric clinics. Since their first baby shower in 2007, they have touched well over 1,400 babies in the community by providing them with essential clothing. In addition, through the efforts of the “Knitting Angels,” a hand-knit or sewn item completes each package. These bundles help babies and their families with limited resources get off to a happy and healthy start. Every Christ Child Society chapter in the country provides layettes to needy newborns in their area. The layettes are the signature and founding project of the National Christ Child Society.
Baby Shower Co-Chairs Sheila Schlageter and Julie Vlass welcome all to celebrate the coming of Spring and new life with a Mass at 11:30 am followed by a lovely lunch catered by What a Dish. A donation of new layette items such as outfits, pajamas, receiving blankets, onesies in newborn and 3 month sizes or a monetary donation of $40 is kindly requested. Co-President Kathryn Colao remarks, “I love how each year our baby shower brings together our members and friends in the community to celebrate the advent of spring and to support the Christ Child layette program. The adorable baby clothes and donations we receive make our layettes extra special and help us serve local families in need in a meaningful way.” For more information, to R.S.V.P or to become a member please visit www.christchildsummit.org.
The Summit Chapter of the Christ Child Society provides aid and supplies to at-risk children in Summit and neighboring towns. The Christ Child Society helps build better communities by partnering with others to serve children and families in need. Members assemble and deliver layettes (essential bundles of clothing) to newborns at local hospitals, and partners with Bridges Outreach to run an annual school supplies drive that provides essential supplies for elementary, middle and high school children in Summit. The Christ Child Society of Summit is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Your gift is tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.
