SAVE the Trees of Rahway
Did you know that each year, Rahway REMOVES THREE TIMES more street trees than it REPLANTS?
It’s true. During the past 20 years, over 2000 of our city’s street trees have died or were removed and never replaced. How did this happen?
In our “SAVE the Trees of Rahway – Episode 1” video, you’ll quickly learn what’s been causing our urban forest to shrink and dwindle and why it’s critical for us to replenish our tree population as soon as possible.
As a Certified Tree City USA, we need to catch up with neighboring smart green cities like Ridgefield Park, Bound Brook and Old Bridge. The benefits of maintaining a strong and healthy urban forest goes way beyond the absolute beauty of tree-lined streets. Trees filter pollutants and remove carbon dioxide from the air, they create cooler temperatures reducing air conditioner costs and provide beneficial shade, wildlife habitat, noise reduction and increased real estate values.
Our organization’s mission is to educate our elected officials and our entire community and motivate our town to restock, rebuild and restore its urban forest, making Rahway lush and green once again.
In Episode 1, we introduce you to Rahway’s tree challenges and offer a great plan to correct our street tree problems.
In Episode 2, we get down to the nitty-gritty, showing you how we got into this state and offering specific solutions that will turn this all around.
We know we can SAVE the Trees of Rahway, but we’ll need your help and support. We just can’t do it without you.
