Public computers are now available for use during pick up hours. There are substantial restrictions, however. Only 2 computers open at a time, by appointment only, 45 minute/1 session limit per day and masks must be worn. Please call the library to make an appointment. We will accept appointments up to 2 weeks in advance.
Boho Yarn Wall Hanging Teen Take & Make (Teens) – November 2 at 3:00 p.m.
Come to the library foyer to grab a craft kit to make a Boho Yarn Wall Hanging. Hang it on your bedroom wall or study room for a soothing piece of DIY decor! For students in grades 6-12 (may be too difficult for younger children). Craft kits are first-come, first-served. Please only take one kit per teen.
Songs of the Suffragists (Adults) – November 5 at 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
The library will stream “Songs of the Suffragists: Lyrics of American Feminism from 1850 to 2020” over zoom in honor of the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th amendment. A discussion moderated by the League of Women Voters of Berkeley Heights, New Providence and Summit, which produced the half hour video, will follow. Teen Take Out Boxes (Teens) – *November 9 at 3:00 p.m.
Teen Take Out is a new monthly subscription box for NP teens in grades 6-12. Each month, we will put together a box for you including fun treats like snacks, crafts, bookmarks, buttons, stickers and a faux leather slide charm bracelet (a new charm added each month). Plus, we will select a YA Fiction book for you based on your answers to our questionnaire! You’ll receive an email letting you know when it’s ready to be picked up at the library. Virtual Club Phoenix (Kids) – November 9 at 3:30 p.m.
Club Phoenix is online! In this program kids will learn about science, engineering, and logical thinking. Watch a variety of cool science experiments and learn how you can do them at home! This program is run by teen volunteers, who are passionate about sharing their love of science and STEM with younger children. Baseball Discussion Group (Adults) – November 9 at 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Race, Empowerment + Experience (All Ages) – November 10 at 7:00 p.m.
The Libraries of Union County Consortium will sponsor a series of virtual author visits to explore the subject of Race, Empowerment and Experience. In light of the intense and widespread discussion of race and racism in America, our libraries are committed to providing online platforms for information and discussion. Starting off this series on Tuesday, November 10 at 7:00 p.m., we will be joined by two prolific, award-winning authors and publishers: Cheryl Willis Hudson and Wade Hudson, the co-founders of Just Us Books, Inc., one of the most prominent Black-owned publishing houses in America. This program will be hosted on the Zoom webinar platform, and is free for all to attend. Registration is required. To register, visit luccnjevents.org.
Exploring the Night Sky (Adults) – *November 12 at 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Learn how to locate and identify things in the night sky from constellations and planets to the International Space Station and satellites. Paul Cirillo is a member of the New Jersey Astronomical Association, which operates the largest public observatory in New Jersey, and volunteers as an outreach “ambassador” for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He will also teach us how to use a star map. This program will be held over zoom. While geared for adults, the minimum age to attend is 10. Email the library npmlref@yahoo.com to register.
Pumpkin Spice Mug Cake Take & Make (Teens) – November 16 at 3:00 p.m.
Pumpkin spice & everything nice! Come by the library foyer after school to grab all of the ingredients you’ll need to make a microwaveable Pumpkin Spice Mug Cake (you supply the mug at home). Measured ingredients and a simple recipe included in each kit. Only one kit per teen, please. While supplies last.
Book Group (Adults) – November 17 at 10:30 a.m.
The book group will meet over zoom to discuss The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson. Fall into Flavor: Live Zoom Kids Cooking Class (Kids) – November 17 at 3:30 p.m.
Kids will cook virtually alongside ShopRite Village Wellness Guru’s team of nutrition experts and will learn how much fun healthy foods can be! On the menu: Apple Pie Parfaits and Pumpkin-Cranberry Energy Bites. Recipes and shopping lists will be provided so ingredients can be purchased ahead of time. For kids in grades 1-5.
