9th Annual New Providence Good Scout Award Dinner
Boy Scouts of America, Patriots’ Path Council will be honoring local citizens at the 9th Annual New Providence Good Scout Award Dinner to be held on the evening of Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at The Primavera Regency in Stirling at 6:30 p.m. This year’s honorees are Don Burkitt, Nadine Geoffroy, Hilary McCarron, Joseph Parlapiano, Tara M. Smith, Ph.D, Donna Zane and Cecile Seth.
The event recognizes these seven outstanding citizens for their community service, as evidenced by their leadership and interests within the New Providence community, and for their embodiment of the values of the century old Scout Oath and Law in their personal and professional lives. The event chair is past New Providence Good Scout Award Recipient Gary Kapner of Creative Wall Coverings & Interiors.
Don Burkitt is the owner of Harlee’s Tap & Grille and is past Cubmaster of Cub Scout Pack 263 in New Providence. Nadine Geoffroy is a councilwoman in the Borough of New Providence and has volunteered as a member of the PTA/PTO and planning board. Hilary McCarron is a manager at The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and was the “Scouting for Food” Drive Coordinator from 2016-2018. Joseph Parlapiano is a detective at the New Providence Police Department and past chief of the New Providence Fire Department. Tara Smith is a licensed psychologist in Summit and is an active member of the New Providence Municipal Alliance, coordinating the Alliance’s Every 15 Minutes program – a program designed to prevent teenage drunk driving. Donna Zane and Cecile Seth are the co-founders of STEMshoots.com, a website and resource used to strengthen the community’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) ecosystem.
New Providence is a part of the Patriots’ Path Council, Boy Scouts of America which serves 16,000 youth in over 400 Scouting units in communities throughout Morris, Middlesex, Somerset, Sussex, and Union Counties.
