Summit Free Public Library presents Shakespeare on the Green
Pack up the kids and a picnic dinner, a blanket or some chairs, and join the Summit Free Public Library on the Village Green on Thursday, July 11th, 2019, at 7 p.m. for our sixth season of Shakespeare on the Green as The Shrewd Mechanicals of The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey present Verily, Madly Thine. This summer season’s brilliant medley of Shakespeare’s plays, mixed with a few contemporary authors whose work has been inspired by Shakespeare, is guaranteed to entertain the entire family. The 60 minute program about falling in love, will celebrate and mock the victims of Cupid’s arrow as The Shrewd Mechanicals, a tight-knit group of young actors, present a modern twist on some Shakespearean classics. Throw in a little night music and be prepared for the whole family to enjoy an evening of accessible culture that even the kids will enjoy!
The Summit Free Public Library, through the generosity of the Manley Winser Foundation, has been bringing Shakespeare to the Village Green in Summit since 2013. This program is co-sponsored by the Summit Department of Community Programs. In the event of rain, the performance will be held at the Central Presbyterian Church at 70 Maple Street.
