Congratulations to 6th graders Ally Prates-Lima, Cieysha Russell, Kaylin Green, Sophia Rocha, and Sophia Izeppi, who won 3rd place in the Panasonic Eco-Citizen Picture Diary Contest. These students will get a $150 electronic device from Panasonic and a trip for lunch to Panasonic Headquarters followed by a day with scientists and environmental activists at Liberty Science Center. The group bested over 120 other schools with their project focusing on helping keep our environment healthy, beautiful, and safe. They rose awareness about pollution and litter by writing an article for the school newspaper, collecting garbage around Green Brook Middle School, IEF, and their neighborhoods, creating an Instagram account cataloguing litter in the area, refusing use of all plastics, and posting fliers up around the community about the dangers of litter and pollution. We are very proud of what these students have accomplished and the dedication they have shown to their community and their planet.
