In celebration of Earth Day, the fifth grade students at Deerfield School in Mountainside took part two wonderful activities. To start off the afternoon, a Flowering Dogwood Tree was planted on school grounds.
The tree was given to the school courtesy of the County of Union. Following the tree planting, students participated in a community clean-up activity. On a nature walk of the school property, and while wearing gloves, they collected any garbage that they came across. The afternoon was a huge success and students saw first-hand the benefits of cleaning and protecting our earth’s natural resources.
