As most of you know there will be no Clark Pop Warner Football (CPW) for the 2016 season. We would like to apologize to the residents of Clark and especially the families involved in CPW for allowing this to happen. We would also like to get the program back on track for the 2017 season. With that said there is an Old/New CPW Board. We say Old/New because this Board has or is involved with CPW and brings over 20 years of experience with them.
President: Pat Campione, Mr. Campione was involved in CPW for 15 years as a Coach and served as the President for 6 of those years and VP for 2.
Vice President: John Cuccolo, Mr. Cuccolo was also involved with CPW as a coach and the VP and was the equipment manager for a total of 9 years.
Board Secretary: Christine Greenbush, Mrs. Greenbush has been involved with CPW for 9 years. She has been the Board Secretary for 4 years and will continue as Board Secretary doing a great job in that position.
Treasurer: James West, Mr. West also served as a Coach and on the CPW Board as the previous Treasurer for 9 years.
Football Commissioner: Mike Bruno, Mr. Bruno was involved with CPW for 9 years as a Coach and served as the Football Commissioner for 3 years and the President for 4 years.
Co Football Commissioner: Ralph Talarico, Mr. Talarico also was involved with CPW as a Coach and was the Football Commissioner for 3 years.
Equipment Manager: Art DeMartinis, Mr. Demartinis has been involved with CPW for many years as a Coach and previous Equipment Manager.
Cheer Coordinator/Commissioner: Vicky Dente, Ms. Dente has been involved with CPW for 7 years as a Coach and for 3 years as the Cheer Coordinator. She will remain as Cheer Coordinator/Commissioner and will continue to do a great job. Ms. Dente will also continue to Coach Cheerleading.
Cheer Secretary: Shannon Tarentino, Mrs. Tarentino has been involved with CPW for 10 years. She started out as Team Mom for Football then became a Cheer Coach and Team Mom for Cheerleading before taking over as Cheer Secretary 3 years ago. In addition Mrs. Tarentino still Coaches Cheer and will continue to do a great job as Cheer Secretary.
The members returning are doing so because all of their children have gone through the program both in Football and Cheer and had a wonderful experience. The returning members are also coming back because of the great experience their families had and would like the youth of Clark to experience the same as they all did and to build long lasting relationships. In past years the community of Clark have entrusted thousands of their children with these returning and remaining Board Members.
We realize that the news media and even the President of our country has hurt this sport as a whole but we also believe that all the facts are clearly not given and it is one sided. Since we are a small program we don’t have the luxury of going on National TV. CPW is a strong supporter of USA Football which has the Heads Up program and is endorsed by both the NFL and the CDC. All our Coaches are required to get certified in this program and utilize the skills they learn when working with your children. We have replaced all our football helmets with the latest technology in helmets being the Riddell Revolution Speed helmet. Which is the only helmet ever rated 5 stars and the highest rating given.
National Pop Warner has also taken steps to reduce injuries as a whole in the sport by eliminating kick offs and reducing the amount of contact time at practices to 25%.
Also Clark Pop Warner is much more than just Football and Cheerleading. The children are also encouraged to do well in their academics and are recognized through the National Pop Warner Scholastic program where your child may be awarded a scholarship.
Clark Pop Warner is the only Football program in town that works directly with the High School program and the coaches so that the curriculum is an easy transformation for those who choose to play at the High School level. So if you are interested in having your child become a part of an organization that teaches them Team Building, Leadership, Commitment, Cooperation, Responsibility, and Respect, than Clark Pop Warner is where they should be.
