Scouting for Food is Back with 41st Annual Food Drive

41st Annual Scouting for Food Drive

Non-perishable items, gift cards, and financial donations welcome

New Providence’s Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts are beyond excited to host their 41st annual Scouting for Food drive. Scouts will once again return to the traditional Scouting for Food format of picking up non-perishable items from New Providence residences on Saturday, November 19. In addition, people can send in donations via Venmo or mail grocery gift cards.

The Scouts (Boy Scout Troops 1 and 63 and Cub Scout Packs 263, 363, and 99) are happy to go back to the pre-pandemic way of collecting the many thousands of dollars worth of food that are donated by New Providence’s generous citizens. They will go house-to-house, neighborhood-by-neighborhood to collect food, which is then sorted and distributed from Faith Lutheran Church. The food collected goes in part to families supported by The Community Service Association of New Providence and to the Star Fish Food Pantry.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN SCOUTING FOR FOOD 2022:

New Providence residents can place non-perishable food items on their front porches on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19 by 8:00 am. The Scouts will collect the food bags from 9am-2pm that day. Please note, the Scouts will NOT be delivering paper bags to all homes this year.

Venmo a donation to @Scouting4food. Money collected will be used to purchase food for NP neighbors in need and the Star Fish food pantry. This allows the CSA and food pantry to purchase exactly what is needed.

Mail a grocery store gift card to: The Community Service Association of New Providence, 360 Elkwood Avenue, New Providence, NJ 07974.

New Providence’s Boy and Cub Scouts thank the community once again for its ongoing generosity and for helping neighbors in this unique way during another challenging year. As we emerge from the shadow of the pandemic, many still face financial hardships and struggle with inflation and job loss. There are many local families/individuals in need in New Providence and beyond. Please contact the Community Service Association of New Providence at (908) 665-8254 for more information or if you are in need of its assistance or would like to get involved. csanewprovidence.org
