Garwood Police to host Ceremony for 25th Anniversary of Officer Haughton’s E.O.W.

25th Anniversary of Officer Haughton’s E.O.W.

The Garwood Police Department will be holding a ceremony to commemorate Officer Thomas P. Haughton on the 25th anniversary of his end of watch, November 24.

Officer Haughton was involved in a one car motor vehicle crash while attempting to pull over a vehicle for a motor vehicle violation. He succumbed to his injuries on November 24, 1995.

The members of Garwood Police Department remember Officer Haughton every year buy lighting the Thomas P. Haughton Memorial Plaza and the exterior of Borough Hall in blue light for the month of November.

As we arrive at the 25th anniversary of his passing, the Garwood Police Department will re-dedicate the Thomas P. Haughton Memorial Plaza on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.

Because of safety concerns due to the COVID-19 pandemic the ceremony will be closed to the public but will be broadcast on Facebook. Anyone wishing to observe the service can go to the Garwood Police Department Facebook page for more information.
