Twenty-four eighth-grade students from Warren Middle School (WMS) in Mrs. Dannine Albanese and Mrs. Christine Cirrotti’s Language Arts class have been named award recipients for their submissions to the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards contest, the nation’s longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens.
Students in grades 7-12 (ages 13 and up) can apply to 29 categories including short story, fashion design, photography, memoir, printmaking, poetry, and novel writing. Students’ entries are judged by some of the foremost leaders in the visual and literary arts.
WMS students entered their artwork, essays, poems, and short stories in November and were recently notified that they had been recognized for their efforts. The gold medal winners are going on to the national competition and will be notified if they have won further prizes.
