Wharton Arts Awarded NEA Grant
Wharton Arts is New Jersey’s largest independent non-profit performing arts education center, announced recently that the organization has been approved for a $25,000 Grants for Arts Projects award from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to support the Paterson Music Project’s Saturday Community Music Program. The free Saturday Program will welcome young musicians from any public school in Paterson to participate in a city-wide orchestra, smaller ensembles, and private lessons during the 2023-2024 school year. Wharton Arts’ project is among 1,130 projects across the country, totaling more than $31 million, that were selected during this second round of Grants for Arts Projects fiscal year 2023 funding.
On Wednesday, May 24, 2023, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) announced more than $103 million in recommended grants in the second major grant announcement of fiscal year 2023. Organizations in all 50 states and U.S. jurisdictions will carry out arts projects in three NEA funding categories: Grants for Arts Projects, Our Town, and State and Regional Partnerships.

Wharton Arts is located in Berkeley Heights, New Providence, and Paterson, NJ and reaches students from 12 counties.
