Jefferson Learning Garden Dedication
There was great weather and a great turnout for the recent dedication of Jefferson’s Outdoor Classroom and Learning Garden. Principal Dr. Susie Hung thanked Jefferson dads John Drennan, Thomas Nastasi, Marc Nissim, Christopher Thornton and all those who contributed to the yearlong project. “It really shows the power of community,” said Thornton who added that 260 pounds of fresh produce has already been harvested since last spring with 172 pounds donated to a local food bank. The produce planted and harvested by students includes kale, asparagus, tomatoes, eggplant, cucumbers, string beans, and zucchini.
