Westfield Memorial Library Online Summer Reading Program
The Westfield Memorial Library is pleased to announce that the Online Summer Reading Program for Children, Teens and Adults, “Imagine Your Story,” will begin June 22.
The Children’s reading program is for readers of all levels, including Little Listeners who are not yet reading on their own.
Similar to previous years, Westfield Memorial Library card holders will be able to read for fun, relaxation and prizes. This year, however, due to the temporary closing of the library caused by the corona virus, all patrons, including children, will be registering and tracking their reading online. Parents will be able to create family accounts so that all their children’s records are linked.
On June 22 readers can visit the library’s web page at wmlnj.org, or our Facebook page at facebook.com/wmlnj, and access the link to READsquared.com. READsquared.com is an online service in which patrons set up an account to record their reading, whether it be physical books, ebooks or audiobooks. The site also offers plenty of games and puzzles to play, as well as curated book recommendations, digital badges and more.
Throughout the summer, children can win prizes for the materials they’ve read, and on September 4, adults will have the chance to win one of two gift baskets in a random drawing.
Library Director Phil Israel said, “We are pleased to offer the Summer Reading Program as we do every year. While we may not be able to provide an in-person experience, we hope that everyone will take advantage of our virtual programs, until it is once again safe to meet in groups. We continue to expand our on-line collections to ensure that we have the latest and best selections to match our patrons’ diversified tastes.”
The Westfield Memorial Library is located at 550 East Broad Street. Watch the library’s Facebook page and website for future news regarding the library’s gradual re-opening.
