August Garden of the Month
The Garden Club of Westfield
The Garden Club of Westfield has designated the lovely property of Michelle and Elias Habayeb at 507 Wychwood Road, Westfield as the August Garden of the Month. The Habayebs have lived there with their three children since the building was completed in 2018. They aimed to create a landscape that would harmonize with the home’s elegant and refined design. They were also concerned with the preservation of our environment so they planted many trees and plants that would attract pollinators. Mrs. Habayeb enjoys the bees and butterflies that visit her garden. Three stately American elm trees grace the front of the property. In addition, two tall, slender spruce trees frame the entrance to the home. A hedge of boxwood serves as a backdrop to display an array of red cannas, white hydrangeas and colorful annuals and perennials, including coleus, marigolds, purple cranesbill geraniums, and magenta and white impatiens. A large lavender plant on the corner of the house adds fragrance to the property. With its fine proportions, symmetry and balance both in the building and the garden, the property emanates beauty with a view that delights the eye.
