Juneteenth Day Celebration
All are welcome to join together for a day of Community celebration. Organized by the Watchung IDEA Committee with support from the Watchung Board of Education, Watchung PTO, the Watchung Public Library, students from Watchung Hills High School and the Borough of Watchung. Quilting is a long-standing tradition in African and American history. In the past, a quilt has been a way to represent messages, to celebrate and document events of the community. For this first Juneteenth Celebration, we would like the craft to represent the community. Several patterns of squares will be available to color or a blank square to create messages or pictures that represent your meaning of the day. We will place the squares on display as a quilt at future Juneteenth Celebrations. Click here to sign up:
