New Adult Services Library Intern

The Somerset County Library System of New Jersey’s (SCLSNJ) Warren Township branch recently welcomed Genevieve Girvan to their adult services department as the new library intern. Girvan, who is currently working on completing her master’s degree at Rutgers University School of Communication and Information, started working for the Library System in 2019 as a library assistant.

“I decided to become a librarian because of how many new and exciting things happen at the library,” said Girvan. “I love that libraries are places where people can come to learn about anything from job applications to cupcake decorating. I really enjoy working at the Library because I am always learning about new ways to really make a difference in my community.”

Discover Girvan’s favorite recent reads in the Library’s catalog:

  • “The Magic Fish” by Trung Le Nguyen
  • “Lifting As We Climb: Black Women’s Battle for the Ballot Box” by Evette Dionne
  • “Punching the Air” by Ibi Zoboi and Yusef Salaam
  • “Circe” by Madeline Miller
  • “Are You Listening?” by Tillie Walden
