The Somerset County Library System of New Jersey’s (SCLSNJ) Warren Township branch hosted a dedication ceremony, celebrating their enhanced children’s play space – The George Sr. and Betty Dealaman Children’s Corner – on May 2, 2024.

“It has truly been a delight to witness the children’s play area transform from email subject lines to a real and dynamic physical space in the Warren branch,” said Darryl Voorhees, branch manager. “Knowing that children can explore and interact with each other and the Library in new creative ways is incredibly rewarding for everyone involved. Thanks to the Dealaman family for their remarkably generous contribution that will serve the community for years to come. We are also so grateful to the Township, to the Friends of the Warren Library, and to the Warren Library Advisory Board for their support.”

“We are so excited to share this newly imagined space with the community,” said Katie Winjum, youth services department supervisor. “Having the new play elements in our children’s area makes the space instantly welcoming to customers and invites them to explore and stay a while.”

The new children’s space offers visiting families the opportunity to explore through play, allowing children and caregivers the opportunity to utilize the new interactive market playhouse, read atop garden-themed tables, spend a few quiet minutes meditating beside wall decorations that help bring the beauty of the outdoors inside, and more. Dedicated librarians and library staff at the branch have also worked to enhance the Library’s collections by adding new reading materials as well as rearranging older materials for easier access.
