The public is invited to attend a meeting of The League of Women Voters of Berkeley Heights, New Providence & Summit on Tuesday, September 26th at the De Corso Community Center, located at 15 East 4th Street in New Providence.
Dennis Kobitz, Director of the Union County Board of Elections, will be the speaker. “People who register to vote expect a guarantee of privacy. We are presenting this program to let the public know that there is privacy at the ballot box”, stated Susan Ferris Rights, Co-President of the League. “It is important for the voting public to feel secure with the Election coming up in November.”
Mr. Kobitz will talk about the voting process beginning with voter registration, including confirming the information (looking out for fraud), to protecting voting machines from hacking. He plans to share anecdotal stories to illustrate what Union County does to ensure the privacy of voters and the sanctity of the voting machines. The meeting is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. For more information contact 908-898-0565.
