Honoring the Purim holiday

Volunteers from the Sisterhood of Congregation Beth Israel (CBI) in Scotch Plains prepared gift bags with groggers, treats and traditional hamantaschen cookies to be delivered to the entire congregation before the Jewish holiday of Purim.

CBI’s Sisterhood also donated Purim gift bags and boxes of hamentashen to seniors in the Berg-Lieppe Adult Enrichment Program at the JCC of Central NJ in Scotch Plains.

In addition, CBI’s Sisterhood fulfilled the commandment on Purim to give presents to those in need by making donations on behalf of the synagogue to two non-profits that help feed the hungry: the food pantry at the Jewish Family Service of Central New Jersey and Leket Israel, the National Food Bank of Israel.
