VFW Names Andrea Masri Teacher of The Year

Veterans of Foreign Wars N.J. District 5 (Union County) selected Andrea Masri as their Grammar School Teacher of the Year. She was unanimously nominated by VFW Post 6259, Berkeley Heights, for her program “Operation, We Remember”, an interactive exchange between veterans and her Gifted and Talented students. Mrs. Masri will now vie with other candidates from all districts in New Jersey for the state title.
Mrs. Masri had her students interviewed veterans from World War II through the current battles in the Middle East. The students’ work culminated with both an assembly of students and faculty along with Berkeley Heights township officials and the Veterans Memorial Park Renewal Committee; and the publication of a hard bound book “Operation, We Remember”. A copy of the book was presented to each participating veteran.
