Valley Road Virtual Reading Cafe
Submitted by Christine Casale Broski
Students in grades K-3 at Valley Road School in Clark recently participated in a virtual Reading Café event. Students virtually visited “Starbooks” and found themselves in a virtual library filled with many books and read-alouds including such favorites as Green Eggs and Ham and The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
This event is part of a larger Reading Incentive Program at the school in which students select books from a virtual library and complete a reading log. Each room in the library has a different series of books for different grade levels.
Valley Road School Principal Joe Beltramba stated, “The Reading Cafe inspires a love of reading in our K-3 students. They have the opportunity to hear many of their favorite stories and share that experience with their families at home.”
