Pinwheels spinning for peace at Valley Road School
Submitted by Christine Casale Broski
Each year, the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on September 21st. The UN General Assembly established this day in 1981 to strengthen the ideals of peace. Valley Road students, with art teacher, Kerry Kennedy, created pinwheels for the Pinwheels for Peace project. The school joined hundreds of schools across the globe in spreading peace through art. The pinwheels were then placed on display in various locations outside the school. Kennedy stated, “Through this project, students were inspired to think creatively on how to spread a message of peace through their art.” For more information on the project, visit pinwheelsforpeace.com.
