Valley Road School held one of its Reading Evenings. This one was Mystery Night where students in grades 4 and 5 try to figure out a mystery by watching teachers put on a skit and then going into two rooms set up with clues. Students had to seek evidence from the skit and the physical clues in the rooms. This was much the same as seeking text evidence when they read.
It was a night of campfires, mystery and teamwork as the third, fourth and fifth graders of Valley Road Elementary School put their minds together to solve what had happened that night at the campsite. Each group of students was given a map and story that was read by Mrs. Peitz. After the story was finished they were guided to two separate rooms. Each room had clues to what had happened that night at the campsite. The students worked together to collect clues and used their minds as they walked around a mock campfire and campsite. The smiles and excitement lit up the room as the students all realized who the aliens were! It was a fun night full of mystery and laughter.
