Valley Road School “Hats On” Event raises money for CVES

Hats On Day raises money for CVES

Submitted by Susan Alacchi, EMT, CVES

Mrs. Lorraine Haney, a teacher at Valley Road School, once again organized the annual “Hats On”. The event was held on March 21st when students were invited to wear a hat and make a contribution in support of the Clark Volunteer Emergency Squad (CVES). The students are very generous and seem to enjoy the event. “This event is very close to my heart,” Mrs. Haney said. Mrs. Haney’s daughter is a former member of the Clark Volunteer Emergency Squad.

Mrs. Haney tells the children that they should not be frightened when they hear sirens. She explains that it means that police, fire and ambulances are going to help someone needs our help.

Helping Mrs. Haney this year were students from Mrs. Petela’s second grade class.  Mila DaSilva, Thomas Gillespie, and Michael Loguidice donned their favorite hats and gave the donations to Susan Alacchi from the CVES. Clark Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Ed Grande, and Valley Road School Principal, Mr. Joe Beltramba, also joined the festivities.

Donations are gratefully accepted by sending a check to The Clark Volunteer Emergency Squad at 875 Raritan Road, Clark, New Jersey, 07066, or donating online at the CVES webpage at Ourclark.comourclark.com/324/Clark-Volunteer-Emergency-Squad. Anyone with questions or interested in joining the Clark Volunteer Emergency Squad is invited to contact the squad at cves@ourlcark.com for an application.
