Valley Road Fifth Grader Wins 2nd in Art and Writing Contest
Tara Mulvihill, 5th grade student from Valley Road School, was awarded second place in both the New Jersey Association for Gifted Children’s Art and Writing Contests, themed Giftedness: A Vision for 2020. An awards ceremony where winners received their certificates and prizes was held at the REACH (Regional Enrichment Activities for Children with High Abilities) event, held on January 25, 2020, at Moorestown Upper Elementary School. Keynote speaker, writer, and motivator, S.F. Hochman encouraged students to make the most of their talent and abilities by letting it RIP: Resist, Insist, Persist! Following the keynote, students participated in interactive, hands-on enrichment activities, focusing on higher-level creative thinking and team building.
Cindy Tarello, Gifted & Talented teacher in the Clark Public School District, entered her students work in the contest. She stated, “This is one of my favorite contests to enter each year. I’m so proud of Tara and happy she was recognized for both her writing and artwork.”
