Youth Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Classes
Linden Department of Parks and Recreation is offering a variety of virtual Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) classes for children ages 8-14. All classes are 5 weeks. Online registration link for all STEM classes is https://blackrocket.com/linden. Pre-registration is required and must be done at least one week before the start of class. Coding: Students ages 8-14 explore a series of coding languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Python through introductory projects and design challenges. Compatible with MAC, Windows and Chromebook. The class will be held Monday and Wednesday, November 2 through December 9, from 4:00-5:30 p.m. No class November 23 and November 25. Repeated Saturday, November 7 through December 19, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The fee for each section is $159. No class November 28.
Roblox Makers: Students ages 8-14 learn how to build 3D models and create an adventure in their ROBLOX world. Bring characters to life with unique animations they design. Compatible with MAC and Windows OS only. The class will be held Saturday, November 7 through December 19, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The fee is $149.
Minecraft Redstone Engineers: Students ages 8-14 take the next step beyond simply “playing” Minecraft and become a true Redstone Engineer. Students must own a Java version of Minecraft to take this class. Compatible with MAC and Windows OS only. Tablet, phone & game console versions of Minecraft are not compatible. The class will be held Tuesday and Thursday, November 3 through December 10, from 4:00-5:30 p.m. The fee is $149. No class November 24 & November 26.
Youth Art Classes
Linden Department of Parks and Recreation is offering three six weeks virtual art classes for ages 4-12. Pre-registration is required and must be done at least one week before the start of class.
Preschool Drawing: Participants ages 4-5 enthusiasm for art will be encouraged. The class will be held Wednesday, October 28 through December 9, from 4:00-4:45 p.m. (No class November 25). Repeated, Thursday, October 29 through December 10, from 1:00-1:45 p.m. (No class November 26). The fee for each section is $80. Price includes supplies.
Elementary Drawing: Participants ages 6-12 are introduced to the fascinating world of characters, pattern, and color. The class will be held Wednesday, October 28 through December 9, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. (No class November 25). Repeated, Monday, November 9 through December 14, from 4:00-5:00 p.m. The fee for each section is $95. Price includes supplies.
Cartooning: Participants ages 6-12 get started with drawing and learning about expressions. The class will be held Tuesday October 27 through December 8, from 4:00-5:00 p.m. (No class November 3). Repeated, Thursday, October 29 through December 10, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. (No class November 26). The fee for each section is $95. Price includes supplies.
Adult Sewing Class
Linden Department of Parks and Recreation is offering a Mending and Alteration adult virtual sewing class. In this class participants are taught the basics of mending and simple alterations. Sewing machines are not necessary. Participants are encouraged to bring their own items for personalized instruction suitable for the entire group learning. The class will be held Fridays, October 2 through October 30, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. The fee is $62 for a five-week class. Pre-registration is required and must be done at least one week before the start of class.
Youth Sewing Class
Linden Department of Parks and Recreation is offering a Fashion Design, youth virtual sewing class for ages 8-12. In this class participants are taught how to sketch fashion illustrations using fashion figures. This class covers illustration techniques, learning silhouettes and fashion details. Participants also explore color and create a fashion line. The class will be held Saturdays, October 3 through October 31, from 10:00-11:30 a.m. The fee is $82 for this five-week class. The price includes supplies. Pre-registration is required and must be done at least one week before the start of class.
Senior Citizens Lecture Series
Linden Department of Parks & Recreation announces its Senior Citizens fall lecture series line up. Any Linden resident 50 years of age or older are eligible to sign up for this series. Each session is a stand-alone and participants can sign up for one or all. All lectures will be posted on Linden TV 36/42. The Creation of the U.S. Supreme Court & its Most Impactful Decisions: Monday November 16 & 23 1:00-3:00 p.m.
